Taking inspiration from her novels and personal life, Mimi's works focus on female perspectives, cultural representation, transgenerational patterns and content for children. She is seeking justice for happy endings in the world of art house cinema – hoping to inspire and never crush her audience’s souls.
Mirjana Mimi Vlaovic is a London based genre storyteller, born and raised in Belgrade, Serbia.
She has written and published three novels for children and has worked on over 50 short films, music videos, documentaries as a writer-director, producer, production designer, costume, editor, curious to live filmmaking through multiple angles.
She has a BA in digital filmmaking at SAE Institute Belgrade, MBA in film management and marketing at the European University, Faculty of European Business and Marketing and an MA in Filmmaking at the London Film School with a distinction.
Her LFS graduation film "Your Guardian" which she has written and directed has won 9 awards so far and is available to watch at girlsinfilm.net. With this film Mimi has also been shortlisted for Young Director Awards in Cannes last year, and 1.4 Awards of Brilliant Filmmaking in London this year.

Mimi has founded a film festival Ženski likovi ispred i iza kamere (Female Characters in Front and Behind the Camera) which just had its first edition in June 2024 in Belgrade at the Yugoslav Film Archive (Serbian BFI). The festival consisted of educational panels with industry professionals, short film screenings and Flip The Stereotype film workshops.
